Tips on Protecting Your Holiday Smile

Are you interested in having a top-notch holiday smile? If so, then our dentist, Dr. Matthew Scaffa, has some helpful tips for you! Unfortunately, there are many things that can harm your smile and even alter your oral health, which is why it’s important to protect your smile in all you do. The tips our dentist would like to share include:

First, keep up on oral hygiene. Oral hygiene is a great way to protect your holiday smile. So, do your best to brush every morning and night, floss and rinse daily, and visit our dental office every six months for your routine checkup.

Second, wear a mouthguard. If you like to participate in the holiday traditions, like playing football on Thanksgiving Day, going sledding on Christmas, playing basketball on New Year’s, and ice skating throughout the holiday season, then it’s important to protect your smile with a mouthguard. That way you can avoid oral injury.

Third, avoid tooth-harming foods. Unfortunately, there are many foods and drinks that can harm your teeth, especially sugary and acidic foods, and drinks. If you’re not careful, the sugar and acid can promote tooth decay and tooth sensitivity. Try to avoid these products altogether.
