If you are in need of extensive dental work, it is important to seek a qualified dental team that has the experience to treat the problems, enhance your smile’s appearance and improve your oral health. At Dental Art Concepts PLLC in Staten Island, New York, Dr. Scaffa can help patients by developing a dental rehabilitation plan that focuses on restoring or rebuilding healthy teeth and gums. The combination of procedures is uniquely tailored to each individual to fully restore function and beauty to every smile.

What is full mouth reconstruction?

Full mouth reconstruction typically involves a combination of cosmetic, general or restorative procedures with the primary goal of improving the health and function of your smile. Full mouth reconstruction is not the same as a smile makeover, which is typically only done for cosmetic issues. With full mouth reconstruction, the dentists are addressing medical issues that affect the mouth, although the final results will still yield a more attractive smile. Your individual treatment plan may combine one or more of the following procedures:

  • Restorations such as fillings, inlays/Onlays, crowns, dental bridges, dentures, or dental implants
  • Root canal therapy
  • Orthodontics
  • Veneers
  • Bone grafting
  • Gum recontouring
  • Deep cleanings
  • TMJ treatment
  • Corrective jaw surgery

Candidates for full mouth reconstruction

There are many factors that could make patients eligible for full mouth reconstruction. They can include:

  • Disease – Individuals with dental diseases such as periodontal infections
  • Accident – Individuals who have experienced trauma to the mouth
  • Erosion – Individuals with worn-down teeth, often because of grinding or clenching
  • TMJ – Individuals with jaw pain due to TMJ

Getting started with full mouth reconstruction

The first step to treatment is scheduling a comprehensive evaluation at our office. During this visit, we will examine the mouth, take a full medical history and perform X-rays to determine exactly what procedures need to be performed. From there, we can develop a plan for completing the procedures. Often, full mouth reconstruction is completed over a longer period of time to allow for healing in between procedures. Our team will work with you on a plan that is as convenient as possible.

At Dental Art Concepts PLLC, we combine cutting-edge technology with years of experience to deliver truly exceptional results for all our patients. If you have mouth pain, missing or broken teeth, headaches or other dental concerns, we can address these issues to leave you with a fully functional and beautiful smile.
